Research lines / topics:

In our laboratory we study the consequences of exposure to drugs of abuse on the brain circuits responsible for motivated behavior. We used a multidisciplinary strategy combining behavioral and pharmacological experiments together with neurochemical and electrophysiological techniques in experiments with awake or anesthetized male Sprague-Dawley rats. We are interested in the interaction between dopamine, cannabinoids, and the kappa opioid system in amphetamine-induced locomotor sensitization and impulsive decision.
